Troubleshooting
The snags people hit most, and the fix for each. If none of these match, start with the doctor: it checks the install and names what is wrong.
Start with the doctor
Inside Claude Code:
/mos:doctorIt checks the install and reports each problem. Add --fix to repair what it can:
/mos:doctor --fixWindows: the Node installer checkbox
Uncheck "Automatically install the necessary tools".
Windows: "claude is not recognized"
Windows does not know where Claude landed yet. The installer put it in C:\Users\YourName\.local\bin. Add that folder to PATH for this window:
$env:Path += ";C:\Users\YourName\.local\bin"set PATH=%PATH%;C:\Users\YourName\.local\binTo make it permanent: press the Windows key, search Environment Variables, edit the user Path variable and add both C:\Users\YourName\.local\bin and C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\npm. Then reopen the terminal.
If your Command Prompt does not accept Ctrl+V, try right-clicking to paste.
"Marketplace not found"
Use the one-command installer, which adds the marketplace for you:
npx @mindrian_os/cliOr add it yourself inside Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add jsagir/mindrian-marketplace
/plugin install mos@mindrian-marketplace"git is not found" (Windows)
The marketplace needs Git. Install it, reopen the terminal, and try again:
winget install --id Git.Git -e --source wingetDo not use sudo with npm
Never put sudo in front of npm or npx.
Theo is unreachable
The connection diagnostic identifies the failed stage. Keep unavailable method guidance explicit while you check the connection; do not treat an unsourced answer as a sourced method.
Find the cause:
/mos:doctor --brain-smokeIt checks the path to Theo step by step and names the step that fails, including an old connector added by hand that hides the plugin's own.
Then repair what it can:
/mos:doctor --fixIf you set MINDRIAN_DISABLE_AUTO_REGISTER=1, your install cannot register with Theo. Remove it and restart Claude Code.
How Theo connects, and what it sees, is on the Theo page.
